About

OutWrite is for those who are engaged, compassionate, plugged-in, loving, open-minded, and proud to be a part of the queer community at UCLA and beyond.

OutWrite is a platform that places what we think, how we feel, and the issues that matter to us firmly in the spotlight, bridging the gaps between our true needs, our awareness, and what gets talked about in our community and in our society.

OutWrite is a resource made by our community, for the empowerment of our community, and is just as diverse and quirky and weird and wonderful as the individuals that make it so.

OutWrite is a unique, grounded, focused, progressive, passionate voice that speaks for those who can’t, or won’t, speak for themselves. OutWrite speaks for you.

OutWrite, UCLA’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer newsmagazine, aims to reach LGBTIQ college students, both at UCLA and elsewhere.

OutWrite will act as both a resource for LGBTIQ college students by providing them with LGBTIQ news, campus happenings, and arts & entertainment, as well as an outlet, allowing them to share their creative works and coming-out stories with the community. OutWrite intends to cover the LGBTIQ experience on a college campus with more depth than any other LGBTIQ magazine.

We are currently looking for writers, bloggers, editors, illustrators, photographers, designers, and advertising representatives. Help us in providing LGBTIQ students with something to relate to – stories that reflect their own, as well as stories that broaden their horizons. As writer Carlos Fuentes said, “Writing is a struggle against silence.”
