The power of a star
The light
The warmth
The weight of worlds collapsing under their own greatness
You stir that feeling in me
Even space and time bend in awe
It felt right from the first moment
Your head belongs
in the clouds
My gaze belongs
in the heavens
But somewhere from then to now, our trajectories diverged
I’m sorry I cannot shine for you like one of the stars in your books
Or that I cannot chart your emotions like phases of the moon
I’m sorry I cannot make the sunlight dance for you the way my heart does
Or find you a planet anew where we can escape the rules and ideas of this world
But I can love you like the stars above
Unwavering, even at a distance
I can love you like the stars in the sky
Untiring, even in the artificial darkness of this place
If you just let me
I would sooner burn up in your atmosphere than break your orbit to safely drift alone
Whatever I am to you
Whatever this is
The sky feels empty without you
